Egypt's Grand Imam suspends prayers at Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque over coronavirus fears

Egypt’s Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb suspended on Saturday the daily congregational prayers as well as Friday prayers at Islamic Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque for two weeks in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Al-Azhar said in a statement that the temporary suspension is to “ensure the safety of worshipers until the epidemic is contained”
