Egypt’s Sisi urges people to follow precautionary measures to fight coronavirus

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi urged Egyptians on Monday to be fully committed to the precautionary and preventive measures adopted by the Egyptian government to face the coronavirus outbreak.

“I have been following closely by the hour the state’s precautionary measures taken to face coronavirus outbreak and as I have promised you yesterday we are continuing in our measures to fight this pandemic to keep the life and health of every Egyptians.,” he said referring to the economic decisions that were taken by the government on Sunday to ease the financial repercussion of coronavirus.

“I plea that everybody be committed to those procedures to keep Egypt in peace and safety, I pray to Allah to make us succeed in what we do serving our beloved nation, Egypt, ” he added.

Egypt's health ministry announced four new coronavirus fatalities on Sunday, the highest death toll in one day since the virus was first detected in the country in February.

The ministry also announced 33 new cases of the virus, bringing the total to 327 and the total deaths to 14.

Egypt has introduced a series of sweeping measure to contain the spread of the virus last week, including suspending air traffic, closing schools and universities and shutting malls and cafes starting 7pm. The country also announced on Saturday the closure of mosques and churches.
