Egypt’s health ministry has opened registration on Wednesday for volunteers to help fight the spread of coronavirus in either medical support teams in isolation and referral hospitals or in field investigation and follow-up teams.

The ministry’s central unit for medical service providers’ affairs announced the call for volunteers under the title “Be A Hero.”

The unit said in a statement that registration is open to all medical professionals and medical college students, as well as non-medical workers and non-medical college students who can volunteer.

Egypt's Health Minister Hala Zayed urged Egyptians on Wednesday to "stay at home" to help slow the spread of the coronavirus as she announced 40 new cases and one new death.

The new cases bring the country's total number of infections to 442 and the fatalities to 21.
