Prominent Egyptian-British doctor died in London from coronavirus

Prominent Egyptian-British doctor Mohamed Sami Shousha passed away in London after contracting coronavirus, his family announced.

The 79-year-old doctor died on Thursday after a two-week battle with COVID-19. He had been hospitalised since 23 March.

Living in the UK since the late 1970s, Shousha was an honorary professor of histopathology at Imperial College and worked at the UK cancer research laboratories at London's Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals where he published more than 290 papers on diagnostic breast pathology.

He left behind a wife and two daughters.

Shousha is among the latest Egyptian expats who passed away from coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian community in the United States announced the death of an Egyptian-American citizen, Anton Samaan.

According to members of the Egyptian community in the US who spoke with the daily Arabic Al-Ahram, Samaan had been living alone in New York while his children lived in other states.

Samaan worked in construction.
