A case of coronavirus has been discovered at the Egyptian state television and radio building in Cairo, the National Media Authority said on Thursday.
According to the statement, the person who contracted the virus is a nurse working in the medical care department, and the last time she came to the Maspero building was on 7 April, as the buildings’ clinics suspended work a month ago.
The statement added that the nurse only discovered that she had the illness when she tested positive on Wednesday at an Ain Shams specialised hospital. She has since been sent to an isolation hospital.
The authority said that it will sanitise the medical care department and follow up with the other medical staff to see if there are any other cases.
Egypt has recorded 2,673 cases of the disease so far, including 196 deaths.
