MENA , Thursday 23 Apr 2020

The cabinet under Mostafa Madbouly approved in principle a bill amending some provisions of law number 14/2014 regulating medical professions in Egypt.

Under the 2014 law, a monthly allowance of between EGP 400 and 700 is offered to physicians, dentists, pharmacists, veterinarians, physiotherapists, nursing staff, chemists, physicists, and medical technicians.

Under the amendments to the law, the monthly allowance granted to medical professionals in Egypt will be increased by 75 percent and pension age will be raised from 60 to 65 years old.

The amendments stipulate setting up a risk fund for medical staffers to honor those who lose their live or suffer full or partial disability as a result of their medical professions and support their families.

The move comes within the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve conditions of members of the healthcare sector and support them amid coronavirus crisis..
