Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecast a temporary drop in temperatures nationwide on Saturday and Sunday, before an uptick in temperatures during the week.

Mahmoud Shahin, director of the analysis department at the EMA, said the country is seeing a marked drop in temperatures on Saturday, down 10 degrees Celsius from Friday and Thursday’s weather.

Shahin said weather forecasts in Cairo and the Nile Delta recorded 25 degrees Celsius, northern coasts 21 degrees, South Sinai 29 degrees, and Upper Egypt 27-32 degrees.

He stressed that the weather at night will be "extremely cold."

Temperatures are set to rise again starting Monday, he said.

In the past days, Egypt saw a wave of unstable weather. Dust-laden winds, which began on Wednesday, peaked on Friday, leading authorities to close several Red Sea ports and highways over reduced visibility due to the sandstorm.
