Egyptian doctors check a patient's lung X-ray at the infectious diseases unit of the Imbaba hospital
Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) said in a statement on Saturday that Egypt has so far conducted over 105,000 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests, clarifying earlier statements by a presidential advisor on the types of tests conducted by the country.
In a statement on Saturday, the SIS clarified comments made on Thursday by Presidential Adviser for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din to correspondents from foreign news agencies and newspapers where he said that “Egypt has conducted over 1 million coronavirus tests.”
According to the SIS, Tag El-Din was referring to different types of lab tests including the initial rapid test and radiological examinations, not just the PCR.
