Kamal El-Ganzouri, Egypt's interim Prime Minister, holds a meeting Saturday afternoon with a number of officials to discuss imposing penalties on Port Said's football team, Masry, following February's deadly football disaster.
At least 75 football supporters -- mostly from Ultras Ahly fan group -- were killed and hundreds injured during a league match between Ahly and Masry in Port Said. Fans from Port-Said's Masry team were allegedly behind the pitch invasion and attack on Ahly supporters following the final whistle.
Head of the Supreme Council of Sports, Ahly and Masry football club managers, head of Parliament's youth and sports committee, along with parliamentary representatives of Port Said are in attendance at Saturday's official meeting.
On 10 March, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) cancelled the Egyptian Premier League 2011/2012 season in the wake of the country’s worst football disaster.
The possibility of resuming the premier league matches will reportedly also be discussed in El-Ganzouri's meeting.
