Egypt’s health minister Hala Zayed stressed on Monday that the country has sufficient stocks of medicines as well as medical and preventive supplies in all hospitals across Egypt.

The minister directed the pharmaceutical inspection units to intensify their inspection of pharmacies to ensure the availability of medicines and medical supplies, and that they are not being hoarded, ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed said.

Zayed called on the public not to withdraw large quantities of immunity drugs without needing them, Megahed added.

Megahed pointed out that COVID-19 medications in treatment protocols are prescribed based on three categories of coronavirus patients: patients in isolation hospitals, contacts of positive cases, and cases in home isolation.

According to Megahed, medications are delivered to contacts and home isolated cases through 5,400 health units and 1,000 medical convoys across all governorates.

He added that the number of hospitals that receive suspected coronavirus cases has increased to 376, covering all regions and neighbourhoods nationwide.
