A ferry capsized in a waterway in Egypt's Nile Delta governorate of Beheira, north of Cairo, earlier on Thursday, killing one person and leaving three others missing, the governorate's media office said in a statement.
The body of a 27-year-old man has been retrieved as rescue workers continued to look for the three other people in the canal in the Demshely village.
Three other people were injured.
The ferry, which was carrying two trucks and passengers, capsized when one of the trucks, laden with agricultural materials, slipped into the canal. The ship was running between the governorates of Beheira and Mounifya.
Authorities said a compensation of EGP 10,000 (approx. $628) will be paid to families of the victims.
The governorate's office published photos of a crane lifting one of the vehicles from the canal.
