Egypt ruler Tantawi to address nation shortly

Leader of ruling military council to deliver speech on Egyptian TV this afternoon, topic unknown

Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi will address the nation on state television shortly.

It is not yet known what the subject of his address will be.

Tantawi has been Egypt’s de facto ruler since Mubarak was ousted in February 2011. He is expected to hand over power after a new president is elected in June.
