Activists protesting judicial corruption sentenced to three years in prison, accused of attacking prosecutor-general

A Cairo court has sentenced three activists accused of storming the prosecutor-general's offices and attacking its employees. The accused, Tarek Mohamed, Mohamed Rushdi and Ibrahim El-Sunni,were sentenced to three years in prison.

The three were arrested during a sit-in on 28 February at downtown Cairo's High Court. The sit-in protesters demanded the cleansing of the judiciary, after a court decision had ruled in favour of lifting a travel ban against US NGO workers accused of receiving illicit funds. The impartiality of the judiciary was put into question, following the case, as the decision was believed to be politically motivated
