Three policemen and four prisoners were killed as the four inmates attempted to escape a Cairo prison on Wednesday morning, a security source said.

The security source said the four prisoners, all on death row, attempted to escape Cairo’s Tora prison, before prison authorities responded to prevent the prison break.

The four prisoners involved in the jailbreak attempt were killed in the process, the source said.
