Egypt has expressed concerns over increasing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh border region, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.
Fighting between the two countries broke out on Sunday around the separatist region, with both countries claiming civilian casualties.
In its short statement, Egypt called on the two countries to exercise self-restraint.
“Egypt urges all parties to engage in talks to reach a peaceful settlement based on international resolutions and the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE),” the ministry statement read.
