Egypt reported 128 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total infection tally to 104,915 nationwide since the outbreak began in February, a statement by the health ministry said.
The health ministry also reported 6 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,077.
The statement added that 79 patients have been discharged during the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 97,920.
Though the number of the daily new coronavirus cases has been relatively few in Egypt since August, the government repeatedly urged caution to avoid a potential second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the advent of autumn and the beginning of the new academic year.
Egypt began the move towards a gradual reopening of the economy in June, lifting the night-time curfew, reopening restaurants and places of worship, and resuming regular international flights as part of its plans to coexist with the virus.
