The ambassador 'affirmed that what happened is only an individual act that does not reflect in any way the reality of relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples'

The Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, Tarek El-Kouny expressed "deep regret and complete rejection and condemnation" of offensive statements posted by an Egyptian ministry official on social media towards Kuwait's new emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, according to a statement released by the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait on Friday.

After meeting with Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah, according to the statement, the ambassador “affirmed that what happened is only an individual act that does not reflect in any way the reality of relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples, and the great appreciation that the Egyptian leadership, government and people hold for Kuwait and its leaders."

Social media users had shared a screenshot of the offensive post towards the emir by an official at the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower.

“The Egyptian minister of manpower immediately ordered conducting an investigation with the official at the ministry and taking all required procedures toward him,” El-Kouny said.

"He will not be in a position that allows him to repeat such behaviour," the ambassador stressed.

Egypt and Kuwait share strong, historic relations on the economic, social and political levels.

Kuwait hosts hundreds of thousands of Egyptian expatriates who have worked in the oil-rich country for decades.
