Cairo court sentences Mamdouh Hamza to six months for inciting violence

A Cairo criminal court has placed engineer and political activist Mamdouh Hamza on the terrorism lists and sentenced him to six months in prison in absentia over accusations of inciting violence and spreading false news.

Hamza, 73, has been known for hostile remarks against the government.

The State Security Prosecution has accused Hamza of inciting people through his Twitter account to commit terrorism using force and violence, disrupt public order, and obstruct and resist authorities while performing their duties.
