Egypt's Minister of Defence General Mohamed Zaki left for Portugal on Monday morning with a high-level military delegation on an official visit, the Egyptian Armed Forces spokesman said in a statement.

The several-day official visit will witness discussions about a number of issues of mutual concerns with senior officials in the Portuguese defence ministry in light of the partnership and military cooperation between the two countries in many fields.

Zaki's visit comes in response to an invitation from his Portuguese counterpart João Gomes Cravinho to promote military cooperation between the two countries, the statement added.
