Egypt's ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) announced on Saturday that it will meet with political leaders on Sunday to discuss the latest electoral developments.
The meeting comes after ten contenders, including three major players, have been barred from the presidential race.
The head of the SCAF, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, will discuss in the meeting with heads of political parties and groups how new developments are expected to influence the country in the days to come.
On Saturday, the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) disqualified 10 contenders from Egypt’s anticipated presidential elections, including Salafist poster-child Hazem Salah Abu-Ismail, ex-intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman and Muslim Brotherhood leading figure Khairat El-Shater. The three were topping most of the electoral polls throughout the past month.
