Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawki Allam condemned a terror attack that targeted an Iraqi army post in western Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 11 people and injuring eight others.

In an official statement on Tuesday, Allam said that such attacks executed by extremist groups and organizations, like Daesh and others, aim to undermine security and stability and weaken the security of states.

He also extended his condolences to the Iraqi government and people and the families of the victims.

Egypt’s foreign ministry also condemned on Monday “in the strongest terms” the attack which was carried out in Baghdad’s southwestern district of Al-Radhwaniya.

Unknown gunmen killed at least 11 people and wounded eight others, including soldiers in the attack on the Iraqi army post.

The attackers used grenades and automatic weapons to execute the attack, sources told Reuters on Monday.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
