Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has extended his condolences on the death of Bahrain's Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, over a phone call with Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa on Wednesday.

The deceased PM has served for decades as premier and has died at 84. He is the first and only prime minister of the Kingdom since it declared its independence from Britain in 1971.

During the phone call, Sisi expressed appreciation for the late premier’s efforts to support Egyptian-Bahraini relations, said presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.

The presidential statement said Sisi prays to God Almighty to bless the late premier with mercy and grant him entry to paradise. He also prayed that his family be granted patience.

The Bahraini King thanked Sisi for his condolences, which reflect the brotherly ties between Egypt and Bahrain. King Hamad wished the Egyptian people and government peace, progress, and prosperity, the statement added.
