Iraq’s defence minister discusses cooperation with Egyptian AIO

The Iraqi minister voices aspiration to cooperate with the AOI in fields of defense industries, renewable energy, armored vehicles, communications and electronics, digital transformation and others

In his current visit to Cairo, leading a high-level military delegation, Iraq’s defence minister discussed cooperation in various fields with the chairman of the Arab organisation for industrialisation (AOI), a statement by the AOI read. 

Defence Minister Juma Inad Saadoun voiced his country’s aspiration to cooperate with the AOI, especially in the fields of defence industries, renewable energy, armored vehicles, communications and electronics, digital transformation, infrastructure, water treatment plants, sewage, LED bulbs and water and energy consumption. 

The Iraqi minister said that he also discussed with officials from the AOI the possibility to open a market in Iraq to exhibit the special industries of the organisation in various developmental fields. 

AOI chief, General Abdel-Moneim El-Tarras, had invited the Iraqi side to form a technical delegation to visit the units of the AOI and decide on the cooperation fields between the two sides. 

Inspecting production lines in AOI factories, Saadoun praised the AOI’s manufacturing and technological capabilities as well as it’s highly- trained human cadres. 

Attending the meeting, Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo Ahmed Nayef expressed his country’s aspiration to enhance bilateral relations with Egypt and seek long-term partnerships with the AOI. 

Saadoun earlier met in Cairo with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and separately with Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki, where they discussed the means to boost military cooperation between Egypt and Iraq.
