Egypt delegation to watch the French presidential elections

Delegation of Egyptian MPs and public officials arrives in France to watch Sunday's presidential election

An Egyptian delegation arrived in France Thursday to watch procedures of the presidential election which will begin Sunday.

The delegation includes MPs and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, General Authority for Information, Supreme Elections Committee and the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC).

They plan to visit polling stations and counting venues during the first round of voting, which will take place on 22 April, with a second round on 6 May.

A tight race between current President Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist candidate Francois Hollande is predicted.

Egypt will stage its first post-Mubarak elections on 23-24 May, with the run-off on 16-17 June.
