Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed conveyed a message of thanks from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, and the Egyptian people to the UAE’s government and people for supplying the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine that was developed by the China National Pharmaceutical Group Sinopharm with support from the UAE’s G42 healthcare company.
The statement was made during Zayed’s meeting on Thursday with the UAE’s Minister of Health and Prevention Abdulrahman Bin Mohamed Al-Owais on the sidelines of the Egyptian minister’s visit to the UAE to probe plans for supplying Cairo with other batches of the vaccine, Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed said.
The two sides discussed the efforts exerted to confront the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic, with Zayed reviewing Egypt’s experience in managing the crisis, in addition to the pre-emptive steps it has taken once a warning had been issued from the World Health Organization.
The Egyptian minister also pointed to the precautionary measures taken by the state, which she said have contributed to achieving a balance between preserving the citizens’ lives and boosting production and the economy.
The meeting also touched on exchanging expertise between Cairo and Abu Dhabi, as well as the results of clinical trials conducted to test the vaccines.
