Egypt’s Sisi follows up on projects to develop rural areas

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with head of the Armed Forces' Financial Affairs Authority Major General Ahmed El-Shazly to discuss the ongoing national plan for the development of Egyptian villages and rural areas, stated Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady on Thursday.

El-Sisi focused on ensuring financial flows to civil companies that implement national projects within the framework of the "Decent Life" programme, the statement added.

While the president ordered financial resources be allocated for civil companies to continue implementing various national development projects nationwide, he stressed they should be committed to the designated timeframe and the highest standards and specifications.

He stressed that these national projects “will enhance the economic and investment value-added returns,” according to the statement.

The Egyptian president launched “Decent Life” initiative in 2019 in a bid to provide better living conditions for the neediest strata.

National projects implemented under the “Decent Life” initiative targets raising the capabilities of the infrastructure of poor villages.

El-Sisi held a meeting on Saturday with Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed to follow up on the executive plan for the national project to develop 1,000 villages nationwide.
