Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Thursday the preparations for the upcoming African summit taking place February 2021 with the heads of the economic regional blocs in Africa in a AU office meeting via video conference.
According to the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi said the success of the upcoming African summit depends on focusing on the urgent issues that impact the economic and social development within the continent, which impacts the preserving of peace and security in Africa.
The Egyptian president stressed the necessity to double the efforts in compensating and repairing the damages caused by coronavirus to the economies, health and the security of African people on national and regional levels.
According to the Egyptian presidency, the summit agreed to continue coordinating and following up in order to agree on a mechanism for the upcoming AU summit to ensure the smoothness of its organisation and protect the interest of the continent and its people.
