Five people were killed in the Beheira governorate as a truck crashed into a private vehicle on Alamein International Highway.
The five bodies were moved to Wadi El-Natroun Hospital.
Three of the victims have been unidentified.
Deadly road accidents take place on a daily basis in Egypt due to poor road safety, badly maintained infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
However, the number of road accidents fell by around 30 percent in 2019 to 9,992, down from 14,403 in 2014, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics in June.
Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said said that Egypt’s increased spending on roads and bridges since 2018 has contributed to a decrease in the number of deaths resulting from road accidents in 2020.
