German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas arrived on Sunday evening at the Cairo International Airport, to take part in a quartet meeting on efforts to revive the frozen Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Egypt, France, Germany, and Jordan, are set to convene in the Egyptian capital on Monday.

Maas is making a two-day visit to Egypt. He is set to also hold a bilateral meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the meeting will focus on the peace process in the Middle East as well as ways to tap into the recently-signed normalisation agreements between Israel and the four Arab countries.

The meeting will also deal with the possibility of reaching convergence between the Israeli and Palestinian sides, the statement added.
