The Egyptian Armed Forces has continued its efforts to sterilise and disinfect several crowded areas in Downtown Cairo, as part of its plan to provide support to various state bodies in curbing the spread of coronavirus infections amid the second wave of the pandemic.

According to an official statement on Tuesday by the Armed Forces Spokesman Tamer El-Refaie, mobile sterilization trucks and units disinfected a number of the most areas in the capital such as El- Ataba and El-Mousky squares.

Aslo, sterilisation operations disinfected the the headquarters of the cabinet, as well as the House of Representatives ahead of the convening of the first session of parliament on Tuesday.

The operations also disinfected the Egyptian Post Authority, the National Theatre, in addition to the busy, central underground metro station of El-Ataba.

The vicinity of Al-Hussein and Al-Azhar Mosques were also sterilized, the statement added.

The disinfection operations were carried out in the late hours of the night to ensure that the targeted areas were clear of citizens and that traffic was not disrupted, the military spokesman said.
