Jordan’s Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh voiced to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi his country’s keenness in benefiting from Egypt’s development experience during their meeting in Amman on Tuesday.
Al-Khasawneh hailed Egypt’s comprehensive developmental steps and the major national projects being implemented in the country, highlighting the importance of joint investments and expertise exchange with Egypt, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
President El-Sisi is in Amman on an official visit to Jordan, where he met with King Abdullah II on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.
During the meeting with Al-Khasawneh, El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s willingness to enhance the bilateral relations with Jordan, especially in terms of economy and commerce, in a way that achieves the interests of both countries.
The president also expressed keenness for enhancing ties on the trilateral level with Jordan and Iraq.
El-Sisi and Al-Khasawneh affirmed the need to foster the economic cooperation and boost trade exchange, in light of the high level of political relations and historic ties linking the two countries.
They also agreed on the importance of further cooperation between medical authorities of both countries in terms of facing the coronavirus pandemic.
El-Sisi and Al-Khasawneh also discussed latest regional developments, especially in Syria, Libya and Yemen.
They agreed on the need to jointly face the challenges imposed by terrorism and extremism on regional security, through intensifying joint coordination and exchanging information and expertise between the relevant authorities of the two countries.
On Monday, Egypt sent a shipment of medical supplies and medicine to Jordan to assist the country in facing the coronavirus crisis per the directives of President El-Sisi.
The Egyptian president's visit to the Jordanian capital comes less than a week after the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, France and Germany attended a quartet meeting in Cairo to review coordination and consultation on the Middle East peace process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
In August of last year, El-Sisi last visited Amman to attend a tripartite summit between Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq to discuss partnership prospects between the three countries, as well as regional issues, including the Palestinian cause.
