Egypt expressed on Saturday its utmost condemnation of continued attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia after a Riyadh-led coalition intercepted and destroyed a drone fired by the Houthis in Yemen’s airspace.
In an official statement, Egypt’s foreign ministry reiterated its support to measures by Saudi Arabia to protect its security and stability as well as safeguard the safety of its citizens in combating the cowardly terrorist attacks.
The statement comes as Houthi rebels also fired on Saturday a missile from inside Yemeni territory in the direction of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Harath governorate in Gizan.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the fired projectile, a Katyusha-type missile, fell in a garden adjacent to the governorate’s General Hospital, and its shrapnel was scattered in several different locations.
There was no damage or casualties reported, according to SPA.
Egypt has repeatedly expressed its full support for the Saudi Arabian-led coalition fighting the Houthi rebels in Yemen, saying the Iran-backed movement’s practices further inflame the situation in Yemen.
