Egypt’s Public Prosecution releases former MP El-Hariri on bail in election bribes inquiry

The Public Prosecution released on Saturday evening former MP Haitham El-Hariri on bail in an inquiry of election bribery, a statement said.

El-Hariri, a one-time member of the opposition 25-30 bloc in parliament, is accused of doling out election bribes during the first round of the House of Representatives elections that were held in November and December 2020.

The prosecution had summoned El-Hariri on Saturday morning and the investigations took place from 12pm until 6pm, the statement said.
