Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has ordered establishing and upgrading sports infrastructure and facilities in accordance with the state's policy of carrying out mega development projects to give Egypt the capacity to host international sports events.
El-Sisi's remarks were made during a meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi and Presidential Adviser for Financial Affairs Mohamed Amin, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
Sobhi briefed the president on the activities and projects of the sports ministry throughout the country.
He also briefed the president on the comprehensive plan for the development of the Cairo Stadium Authority, the Sports City in Eastern Port Said, Nasr City for Olympic Games, and the Horse City in the New Administrative Capital.
President El-Sisi was also updated on the latest developments in outlining a national strategy for young people during the period from 2021 to 2026, which aims to upgrade the sector of sports and youths through a variety of projects and programs that provide sports services nationwide.
The sports minister also briefed the president on the most prominent sports achievements over the past year, a matter which was positively reflected in Egypt's organisation of some sports events at the Arab, African and international levels.
