Egyptian Minister of Transportation Kamel El-Wazir discussed on Monday with Jordanian Ambassador Amjad Adaileh cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the field of transportation, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the two officials discussed ways to boost commerce between the two countries and overcome all obstacles to facilitate the transport of Egyptian products to Jordan, Iraq, and Syria.

El-Wazir and Adaileh also discussed plans to develop the Arab Bridge Company (ABC) for transportation, which is owned by Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq, including opening new markets for the ABC to transport goods between the three countries and East African countries.

The two also discussed ways to execute the protocol signed between the Egyptian Domestic and International Land Transport Regulatory Authority, Jordan’s Jett Transport, and Iraq’s State Company for Transport to launch a land transportation line between the three countries.

The new ground transportation line would run from Cairo to Aman and end in Baghdad with ticket prices at USD 130, which cover the cost of passage through the Nuwbeih and Akaba ports through ferries.

The ambassador and the minister said the new line aims to facilitate students’ and Egyptian workers’ movement between the three countries.

The two officials also discussed cooperation in the field of railways.

The Jordanian ambassador expressed his country's wish to cooperate in the field of training Jordanian students, technicians, and engineers in Egypt’s Institute of Ouerdane for rail technology.

El-Wazir welcomed all Jordanian or Arab students wishing to train in the institute.

Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq have recently signed tripartite agreements to boost cooperation in various economic fields including energy, reconstruction and transportation.
