Chancellor Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen
Egypt’s Judges' Club, headed by Chancellor Mohamed Abdel-Mohsen, has refuted a joint statement issued by several member states of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) about the human rights situation in Egypt.
The club issued a statement Saturday, lamenting that the UNHRC member states' statement included several groundless allegations and reports that breach the independence of the judicial institutions, Spokesman for the club Reda Mahmoud Sayed said.
He reiterated that the UNHRC member states' statement contradicts the judicial traditions and constitutes an unacceptable interference in independent judiciary.
The club reaffirmed that Egypt has independent judicial and human rights institutions that provide all guarantees necessary to achieve fair trials in all stages, respect the laws and the constitution, and adhere to the universal principles of human rights.
The club stressed the need of an in-depth review of this statement, urging these countries to depend on documented information in their allegations.
