Intisar El-Sisi, the spouse of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, said she feels proud of belonging to the ancient Egyptian civilisation and the amount of effort exerted by the ancient Egyptians to impress the world.

"Today Egypt celebrates an exceptional and unique event of its kind: the transfer of royal mummies to the National Museum of Civilisation in the city of Fustat, in a scene that expresses the greatness of the ancient civilisation that did provide humanity and still does, with a unique and diverse legacy, contributing to its progress and prosperity," she wrote on her Facebook account on Saturday.

Egypt is moving 22 royal mummies - 18 kings and four queens - from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to their final residence at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation in Egypt’s first Islamic capital of Fustat.

The procession, which has dominated headlines and grabbed the world's attention, will see the royal mummies accompanied by chariots and horses.
