15,000 kilometres of canals rehabilitated in different Egyptian governorates

The first stage of the project targets rehabilitating 7,000 kilometers out of 33,000 kilometers nationwide by June 2022

Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel-Ati received on Thursday a report entailing that 15,000 kilometres of canals were rehabilitated in different governorates until now.

The report comes as part of periodical follow up of national projects carried out by the ministry.

According to the report, work is underway to rehabilitate 5,095 kilometers of canals.

The first stage of the project targets rehabilitating 7,000 kilometers out of 33,000 kilometres nationwide by June 2022.

The EGP 18 billion project comes as part of ongoing efforts aimed to rationalise the use of water resources as an axis of the National Water Resources Strategy 2037.
