The United Nations in Egypt warned of an impostor who has been presenting himself as an ambassador on social media platforms, stressing that he doesn’t represent the intergovernmental body in any capacity.

In an official statement on Thursday, the UN said Ahmed Madkour, who has been identifying himself as an ambassador working at the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Cairo, doesn’t represent the body.

It added that Madkour has been participating in several talks and discussions, mainly on the audio-only app Clubhouse, and stating his opinion on key topics in regards to political issues in the country.

“In this regard, the United Nations in Egypt rejects any violation conducted under its name and any wrongdoing or interference in the internal affairs that take place in its name,” read the statement, adding that the UN expresses its views only through official statements to newspapers, on UN webpages and social media accounts.
