Egypt's Tantawi starts meeting with parliamentary committee to discuss government

A meeting is taking place between the head of the ruling military council and a key parliamentary committee in order to diffuse tensions over the government of Kamal El-Ganzouri

Head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi has started a meeting Sunday with the parliamentary committee headed by Saad El-Katatni, the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party MP and People's Assembly speaker, to discuss the present government.

The meeting is an attempt to resolve escalating tensions between parliament and Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri's government. In the past month, the People's Assembly has been pushing for a vote of no confidence in the Ganzouri government, a move refused by SCAF.
