Central Security Forces personnel cut portion of Cairo-Ismailia highway following reports that one of their colleagues had been beaten to death by police

Hundreds of officers from Egypt’s Central Security Forces (CSF) apparatus staged protests on Sunday, cutting the Obour Market’s main road on the Cairo-Ismailia desert highway following reports that one of their colleagues had been tortured to death inside a police base in the area.

Protesting officers also severed the centrally-located Nahda Street in the 10 Ramadan industrial city, hurled rocks at the local police headquarters and fired shots into the air.

On Sunday afternoon, a high-level CSF source announced that no deaths had occurred inside the base in question. The source acknowledged, however, that a high-ranking CSF officer had in fact beaten an officer resulting in the temporary loss of consciousness.
