Military museums will be open for the public for free on Thursday and Friday on the anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day, the military’s spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday.

The step is in line with the armed forces' keenness on raising the military and patriotic culture and awareness for youths, the statement added.

The armed forces urged visitors to abide by the imposed precautionary measures aginst the coronavirus.

Egypt celebrates Sinai Liberation Day on 25 April each year to commemorate the completion of the withdrawal of all Israeli military forces from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982.

Thursday, 29 April will be a day off to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the national occasion instead of Sunday as per the Egyptian government’s decision to delay national holidays falling on weekdays to Thursdays.
