Egypt’s southern fleet and French naval forces have carried out a maritime drill in the Red Sea under the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ plan to enhance military cooperation and exchange training experiences with friendly and brotherly countries.
Additionally, units from both countries’ air forces have also implemented a joint training dubbed ‘Ramses – 2021’ at an Egyptian airbase, according to an official statement by the Egyptian military spokesman on Sunday.
The drills involved the participation of the Egyptian frigate Sajm El-Fateh and the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.
The exercises come within the framework of supporting the pillars of cooperation between the Egyptian and French armed forces, the statement pointed out.
They also aim to benefit from bilateral capabilities in achieving the common interests of both sides and supporting security and stability efforts in the region, the statement added.
