The Arab foreign ministers are meeting on Tuesday to discuss recent crimes and aggression by Israeli troops against Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

The Arab League's extraordinary virtual meeting comes upon Palestine's request, and is chaired by Qatar.

At least 26 Palestinians, including nine children, were killed and others wounded by Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA, days after clashes erupted near Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.

The ongoing scuffles between Israeli police forces and Palestinians erupted on Friday after Israeli forces confronted Palestinians while observing the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The recent crackdowns by Israeli police on Palestinians are fueled by Israel’s years-long plans to evict Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah district in East Jerusalem.

Israeli forces dispersed the Palestinian protesters, using rubber bullets, water-cannon mounted armored vehicles, and stun grenades, leaving scores of Palestinians wounded.
