Egypt's health ministry reported 1,145 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infection tally officially to 253,835 since the outbreak began in February last year.
The health ministry also reported 51 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 14,721.
In a statement the ministry added that 455 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 186,678.
Nearly two million have been vaccinated against the deadly virus in Egypt, out of a total of 3.5 million who have already registered to receive the inoculation via a website set up by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
