Egypt's Tahya Misr Fund sends 3rd convoy carrying 500 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip

Egypt delivered 500 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip on Monday in the third shipment sent by the state-owned Tahya Misr (Long Live Egypt) Fund to the enclave.

The third delivery comes 10 days after an Egypt-brokered ceasefire to stop Israeli aggression on the Strip came into effect.

According to an Egyptian cabinet statement, the shipment included 20 containers of vegetables, fruits, canned food, electricity tools, and shoes.

The aid was delivered to the Palestinian people under the slogan “We share for the sake of humanity."

The motto was chosen to “encourage all social work parties around the world to compete and exert more effort to achieve record numbers in charity and solidarity,” the cabinet said.

The convoy was prepared through contributions and in-kind donations by Egyptian companies working in various commercial and industrial fields, the statement read.

The companies provided the contributions as part of an Egyptian initiative supporting the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi launched an initiative for the reconstruction of Gaza on 18 May, allocating $500 million for the process.

The state’s Tahya Misr Fund allocated the account 037037-Reconstruction of Gaza in all Egyptian banks to receive contributions and donations in local and foreign currencies.

The fund also receives contributions on its online website (www.tahyamisrfund.org).

The Israeli air strikes against Gaza lasted for 11 days. It destroyed hundreds of buildings and displaced tens of thousands of Palestinians in the enclave.
