Egypt's Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir asserted that the ministry pays big attention to upgrade the first and second lines of the subway in parallel with the completion of the new lines of the underground metro in accordance with the latest technological systems to contribute to enlarging the transport system in Egypt.
El-Wazir met on Wednesday with a delegation of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to discuss the executive condition of a number of joint projects implemented and the future cooperation in the fields of railways, underground metro, maritime transport and ports.
The EBRD in cooperation with a number of banks and international institutions contribute to funding a number of projects including renovating Abu Qeer train and transferring it into an underground.
El-Wazir asserted the importance of the project which will be a quantum leap in the public transport system in Alexandria.
Both sides reviewed the latest developments of getting 100 railway locomotives that are worth 290 million Euros.
