Egypt will send engineering equipment to the Gaza Strip via Rafah border crossing on Friday, as part of efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
The equipment will take part in removing the debris of destroyed buildings in the coastal enclave to allow for the start of the reconstruction process.
The move comes under directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Sisi had pledged 500 million dollars as a contribution to rebuilding Gaza, with the participation of Egyptian companies.
The recent escalation was sparked on 10 May when Israel cracked down on Palestinian demonstrators protesting Israel’s plan to forcibly expel Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah district in East Jerusalem.
The Israeli bombing of Gaza has claimed over 250 Palestinian lives, including many women and children, while over 8,000 have been wounded.
