Egypt reports 773 new coronavirus cases, 38 deaths on Tuesday

The third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has begun to recede in Egypt and the occupancy rates at isolation hospitals nationwide have been on the downward curve

Egypt reported 773 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total infection tally to 269,527 since the outbreak began in February 2020.

The health ministry also reported 38 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 15,437.

As many as 551 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 197,832.

Egypt, since early June, has been recording single-day tolls of coronavirus new cases below the 1,000-mark, reversing the upward trend in positive cases in the two preceding months.

Health Minister Hala Zayed said earlier on the day the occupancy rates at isolation hospitals nationwide are on the downward curve as the pandemic's third wave has begun to recede.
