Man executed for killing a Coptic Priest in 2017

According to CCTV cameras and investigations, 19-year-old radical Ahmed Said Ibrahim stabbed the late priest several times before fleeing the scene

Prison authorities executed on Monday Ahmed Said Ibrahim after the Court of Cassation upheld his death sentence in November 2020 for killing Marg Church Priest Saman Shehata in 2017.

The case goes back to 12 October 2017, when 45-year-old Priest Shehata of Marg Church was stabbed several times in the street. Shehata died shortly from his wounds after arriving to the hospital.

According to CCTV cameras and investigations, 19-year-old radical Ahmed Said Ibrahim stabbed the late priest several times before fleeing the scene. He was referred to the Criminal Court for the murder of the priest in the same month.

In February 2018, the Criminal Court sentenced him to death.

In November 2020, the Court of Cassation upheld the death sentence.
